At Home Builders Institute (HBI), we are aware that Hispanics have the highest construction workplace accident and fatality rates caused in part by language barriers.  We understand through our years of experience that workers with limited English proficiency can be a danger on today's multicultural construction projects.  The lack of proficiency in English, as it related to terms used in the construction industry, has been a major risk factor for workplace-injury amongst Hispanics in the workplace.  The other revealing fact is that almost three-fourths foreign-born Hispanics are not English language proficient.
